Quick Answer: To check a Lahore e-challan, open echallan.psca.gop.pk, enter your plate number (e.g. LEA-1234) and the registered owner’s 13-digit CNIC (no dashes) or the chassis number, tick the reCAPTCHA and press Search. Both fields are required — the portal does not search by CNIC alone. Any PSCA camera challans appear with the violation, location, date and fine. Pay with the 17-digit PSID via JazzCash, Easypaisa, ePay Punjab, an ATM or a bank branch.
If you drive in Lahore, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) network of cameras is almost certainly watching the road with you. Lahore was the first city in Punjab to get automated e-challan enforcement, and today thousands of challans are generated every month from camera evidence alone — no traffic policeman needs to stop you. That makes it easy to collect a fine without realising it, and many drivers only discover their pending challans when they check before a sale, a license renewal, or a trip out of the city.
This guide shows you how to check a Lahore e-challan online in under a minute, where PSCA cameras are active, what the 2026 fine rates look like, and how to pay. It also covers the most common Lahore-specific problems, like challans still appearing against a vehicle you already sold.
A quick note on who we are: checkechallan.pk is an independent information guide. We are not affiliated with PSCA, the Punjab Traffic Police, or any other government body, and we never ask you for logins, OTPs, or personal details. For anything official, always use the PSCA portal directly.
Step-by-Step: Check Lahore Challan on the PSCA Portal
Checking your challan takes less than a minute and is completely free. No account, no signup, no app download — just your plate number and the registered owner’s CNIC (or the vehicle’s chassis number).
Step 1 — Open the official portal. Go to echallan.psca.gop.pk. Type the address yourself or use the link here rather than searching blindly: there are lookalike domains and unofficial “challan checker” sites that mimic the portal’s look. They may harvest your details or show stale data. The official portal’s address ends in `.gop.pk` — anything else is not it.
Step 2 — Enter your plate number. Type it exactly as registered. The form shows the accepted formats: ABC 000, ABC 0000 or ABC-00-0000. Double-check common mix-ups: the letter O versus the digit 0, I versus 1, and B versus 8.
Step 3 — Enter the CNIC or chassis number. The second field is also required. Enter the registered owner’s 13-digit CNIC without dashes (e.g. 3520212345671), or the chassis number from the registration book. See which CNIC to use below.
Step 4 — Tick “I’m not a robot” and search. Complete the reCAPTCHA and press Search. If a picture challenge appears, finish it rather than reloading the page repeatedly.
Step 5 — Read your challan details. Every challan issued against your vehicle will be listed with its status (paid or unpaid), the violation committed, the location where the camera caught it, the date and time, and the fine amount. Each unpaid challan also shows a 17-digit PSID number — that is the Payment System Identifier you will need to pay. Note it down or take a screenshot.
A useful habit: check before you travel. Lahore drivers often discover a surprise challan right before an intercity trip or during a vehicle transfer. A thirty-second check once a month keeps you ahead of it.
Check Lahore E-Challan by CNIC
You can’t search by CNIC alone. The PSCA portal has two required fields, and the CNIC only works together with the plate number:
| Field on the portal | What to enter | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Plate Number (required) | Your number plate exactly as registered | ABC 000, ABC 0000 or ABC-00-0000 |
| CNIC or Chassis Number (required) | The registered owner’s CNIC, or the vehicle’s chassis number | 13 digits, no dashes (e.g. 3520212345671) |
Which CNIC? The registered owner’s — the name on the registration book — not necessarily the person who was driving. If you bought the car or bike and the transfer is still pending, your own CNIC won’t match the record. Use the chassis number from the registration book instead.
One CNIC, several vehicles? The portal has no “all vehicles on my CNIC” search. Check each vehicle with its own plate number.
“No record found”? The usual causes are a CNIC that isn’t the registered owner’s, dashes typed into the CNIC, or the plate in the wrong format. If all three are right and nothing appears, there is no unpaid PSCA camera challan on that vehicle.
PSCA Camera Coverage in Lahore
Lahore’s enforcement runs on the Punjab Safe Cities Authority network — fixed cameras with automatic number-plate recognition (ANPR) mounted across the city’s busiest roads, supplemented by traffic-police camera vehicles. Wherever you see the yellow Safe City camera poles at junctions and along corridors, enforcement is active.
Reporting that quotes officials points to the Lahore Ring Road AI command-and-control centre (ANPR plus radar speed detection), overspeeding radar cameras at five main points across the city, and upgraded signals at 20 major junctions including Canal Road, Ferozepur Road and Mall Road/Faisal Chowk — but PSCA publishes no canonical monitored-corridor list, and portable enforcement units can operate anywhere. Treat every major road in Lahore as monitored rather than assuming a gap.
These cameras catch a specific set of violations automatically:
- Red-light violations — crossing the stop line after the signal turns red
- Overspeeding — exceeding the posted limit on monitored corridors
- Lane and line violations — wrong-lane driving, crossing solid lines
- Helmet violations — motorcyclists riding without a helmet
- Seatbelt violations — drivers and front passengers not wearing seatbelts
- Mobile phone use — holding a phone while driving
Because the evidence is photographic, disputes are possible but rare — the camera captures the plate, the vehicle, and the violation together. If you believe a challan is wrong, the photo evidence is also what you will use to challenge it (more on that in the FAQs below).
Lahore Traffic Fine Rates 2026
Lahore’s city traffic police and PSCA cameras use Punjab’s revised Twelfth Schedule, which sets a different fine for each vehicle class. As recently as 26 October 2026, The Express Tribune quoted the Lahore traffic police using these amounts (for example overspeeding: Rs 2,000 for a motorcycle, up to Rs 20,000 for a car over 2000cc).
| Violation | Motorcycle | Car / jeep up to 2000cc | Car / jeep over 2000cc |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overspeeding | Rs 2,000 | Rs 5,000 | Rs 20,000 |
| Signal violation (red light) | Rs 2,000 | Rs 5,000 | Rs 10,000 |
| Wrong side / one-way | Rs 2,000 | Rs 5,000 | Rs 10,000 |
| Driving without a licence | Rs 2,000 | Rs 5,000 | Rs 10,000 |
| Hand-held mobile phone | Rs 2,000 | Rs 5,000 | Rs 10,000 |
| Parking violation | Rs 2,000 | Rs 5,000 | Rs 10,000 |
| Lane / line / zebra crossing | Rs 2,000 | Rs 3,000 | Rs 8,000 |
| Seatbelt (notified roads) | — | Rs 5,000 | Rs 10,000 |
| Tinted / covered glass | — | Rs 5,000 | Rs 10,000 |
| No helmet | Rs 2,000 | — | — |
Source: Punjab’s amended Twelfth Schedule as published by Pakistan Today (25 March 2026); amounts for overspeeding and no licence confirmed by The Express Tribune (26 October 2026). Three-wheeler and public service vehicle amounts are in our full fines guide.
The amount that counts is the one on your challan. Some May 2026 news reports listed lower figures for a few offences (for example Rs 3,000 for a car signal violation) after Punjab’s new motor vehicle law. If your challan shows a different amount from this table, pay what the challan shows.
Lahore Ring Road has its own, higher schedule. The Lahore Ring Road Authority raised its fines in October 2026. Reported Ring Road amounts include Rs 5,000 for overspeeding (Rs 10,000 above 2000cc), Rs 3,000 for phone use or no seatbelt, Rs 2,000 for illegal parking and Rs 5,000 for a motorcycle entering the Ring Road (The Express Tribune, 26 October 2026).

How to Pay a Lahore E-Challan
Payment starts at the portal. When you look up a challan on echallan.psca.gop.pk, each unpaid entry carries a 17-digit PSID — the Payment System Identifier. That PSID is the single key to every payment channel: you do not need the challan number, the vehicle details, or anything else once you have it.
With the PSID in hand, you can pay through any of these channels:
- JazzCash — mobile account or the JazzCash app
- Easypaisa — mobile account or the Easypaisa app
- ePay Punjab — the Punjab government’s official payment app
- Any ATM — using the bill-payment option with the PSID
- Bank branches — including Bank of Punjab branches, over the counter
All channels accept the same PSID, and payment reflects on the portal after processing — keep your receipt or transaction reference until the challan shows as paid. For a detailed walkthrough of each method, with screenshots-style steps and troubleshooting for failed payments, see our full guide on how to pay your e-challan online.
Common Lahore Issues
Three problems come up again and again for Lahore drivers. Each is covered in depth in our e-challan problems and solutions hub — here are the short versions.
SMS not received. The portal sometimes offers SMS alerts, but delivery is unreliable — messages get delayed, filtered as spam, or never arrive if your registered mobile number is outdated. Never rely on the SMS. Check the portal directly once a month; it is the authoritative record, and “I never got the message” is not accepted as grounds for waiving a fine.
Recently sold vehicle still showing the old owner. This is the single most common complaint. The challan follows the registration record, not the handshake deal — until the Excise & Taxation transfer is completed, every camera challan on that vehicle lands on the seller’s name. Settle or dispute outstanding challans first, then complete the transfer immediately. Buyers should also check the portal before taking delivery so they do not inherit someone else’s fines.
“No record found” plate-format mistakes. If the portal says no record exists, the most likely cause is a formatting error: the letter O typed as the digit 0, a missing dash, an extra space, or the wrong series letters. Re-enter the number exactly as printed on the plate. If it still shows nothing, that genuinely means no unpaid PSCA challan exists for the vehicle — which is good news worth confirming.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which website is official for Lahore e-challan?
echallan.psca.gop.pk, run by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority — the only official portal for Lahore and Punjab. It is free, needs no signup, and shows every camera-issued challan with violation, location, date, and fine. Avoid lookalike domains and unofficial checker sites; check that the address ends in `.gop.pk` before entering anything.
Do Lahore speed cameras work at night?
Yes, PSCA ANPR cameras operate round the clock. Night driving, empty roads, and off-peak hours do not switch enforcement off — overspeeding on a deserted Canal Road at 2 AM is still recorded. Drive to the limit regardless of the hour.
I sold my car but the challan came in my name. What now?
The challan follows the registration record until the transfer is updated, so legally it is yours until the Excise & Taxation Department records the new owner. Settle or dispute the challan first — unpaid fines can block the transfer process — then complete the transfer without delay. For next time: check the portal and clear dues *before* handing over the vehicle, and insist the buyer transfers within days, not months.
How do I pay a Lahore challan through ePay Punjab?
Open ePay Punjab, choose the traffic challan option, enter the 17-digit PSID from the PSCA portal, and pay via mobile banking, debit card, or wallet. Save the receipt until the portal shows the challan as paid. For the full walkthrough of every payment channel — JazzCash, Easypaisa, ATM, and bank branches — see our payment guide.
E challan Lahore ka fine kitna hota hai?
Ye violation aur gaari ki qisam par depend karta hai — misal ke taur par overspeeding bike ke liye Rs 2,000 aur 2000cc tak car ke liye Rs 5,000. Sab se durust raqam wahi hai jo PSCA portal par aapke challan par likhi hai. Mukammal 2026 fine list yahan dekhein: traffic fines Pakistan 2026.
Can I get a Lahore challan cancelled if the camera made an error?
Yes, with evidence. The most successful disputes involve a cloned plate (someone else’s vehicle carrying your number) or the wrong vehicle in the photo. Note your challan number, gather your evidence, and use the PSCA review/dispute process to file the challenge. Our troubleshooting hub walks through the dispute steps and what counts as valid evidence.
The portal says “no record found” but I’m sure I have a challan. What should I do?
First, check both fields: the plate in an accepted format (ABC 000, ABC 0000 or ABC-00-0000) and the registered owner’s CNIC with no dashes. Most “no record” results come from a CNIC that doesn’t match the registration record. If the transfer is pending, use the chassis number instead. Second, allow a few days: camera challans can take time to appear after the violation. Third, confirm you are on the official portal (echallan.psca.gop.pk) and not a stale third-party site. If all three check out, there genuinely is no unpaid PSCA challan on that vehicle.
Do out-of-city vehicles get challans in Lahore? (e.g. Karachi-registered cars)
Yes. PSCA cameras read any Pakistani registration plate — a Karachi-registered car caught overspeeding on the Ring Road gets a challan against its registration record exactly like a Lahore-registered one. Out-of-province drivers should check the PSCA portal after any Lahore trip, and visitors from Karachi or Islamabad can use the same portal to check.
Can I check my Lahore e-challan by CNIC?
Only together with the plate number. The PSCA portal requires both the plate number and the registered owner’s 13-digit CNIC (or the chassis number). There is no CNIC-only search. Details are in Check Lahore E-Challan by CNIC above.
What is the PSCA helpline number for e-challan queries?
Dial 15 and press 6 for e-challan queries (the old 1915 helpline was merged into 15). PSCA universal access: 042-111-111-015.
How long does it take for a challan to appear after a violation?
Camera-generated challans usually appear within a few days. If you don’t see a recent violation, wait 3 days and check again before assuming no challan was issued.
What happens if I don’t pay my e-challan in Lahore?
Unpaid challans stay on the vehicle’s record and must be cleared before a vehicle transfer, token tax renewal or registration work. See what happens if you don’t pay an e-challan.
