How to Generate PSID for E Challan: 2 Easy Methods (2026)

You have an e-challan and you want to pay it — but every payment option asks for a PSID, and you do not have one. Without the PSID, no payment route works: not JazzCash, not Easypaisa, not your bank app, not the ATM. This guide explains exactly how to generate a PSID for your e challan, where to find it, how to pay with it, and how to confirm the payment went through.

Quick answer: To generate a PSID for your e challan, go to echallan.psca.gop.pk, enter your vehicle number plus CNIC or chassis number, select your challan and click “Generate Challan”/”Generate PSID” to get the 17-digit code. Alternatively, use the ePay Punjab app (Punjab Police → E-Challan Safe City), enter your registration number and tap Pay. Pay with the PSID via JazzCash, Easypaisa, any bank app, ATM or a bank branch.

Last verified: 6 November 2026 by Zeeshan, against the live PSCA e-challan portal. Sources: PSCA e-challan portal, ePay Punjab, PITB: traffic challan payment through e-Pay Punjab. This site is independent and not a government service.

What Is a PSID in an E Challan?

PSID stands for Payment System Identifier (some sites also call it a Payment Slip ID). It is a 17-digit unique code that identifies your specific challan payment in the government’s payment system.

Think of it as the key that unlocks every payment channel. The PSID connects your challan to the treasury: when you enter it in JazzCash, your bank app, or at an ATM, the system knows exactly which challan you are paying and for how much. Without it, the payment channels have nothing to look up — so they simply will not work.

Important warning: generate only ONE PSID per challan. Creating multiple PSIDs for the same challan can cause mismatches and payment delays, because the system may not know which code your payment belongs to. One challan, one PSID.

Method 1: Generate PSID from the PSCA Portal (echallan.psca.gop.pk)

This is the direct route through the Punjab Safe City Authority portal.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the official portal. Go to echallan.psca.gop.pk. Make sure it is the official address — copycat sites can show fake results or collect your data.
  2. Enter your vehicle number. Type your registration number. Use one of the formats the portal itself shows: ABC 000, ABC 0000 or ABC-00-0000 (with the registration year). If one format returns nothing, try the others before assuming there is no challan.
  3. Enter your CNIC or chassis number. If a CNIC search returns nothing, the vehicle may be registered in a family member’s name — switch to the chassis number, which is tied to the vehicle itself.
  4. Search and find your challan. Your issued challan(s) will appear in the results list.
  5. Select the challan you want to pay.
  6. Click the button to generate a PSID for this challan, and note the number down carefully — you will enter it exactly when paying.

Tip: If your challan was issued very recently (within the last 24–48 hours), it may not appear in the portal yet. Camera challans typically take 24–48 hours to sync. Wait and try again before assuming something is wrong.

Method 2: Generate PSID via the ePay Punjab App

If you prefer doing it on your phone, the ePay Punjab app can generate the PSID for you.

Step-by-step

  1. Install/open the ePay Punjab app on your phone.
  2. Tap Punjab Police, then E-Challan (Safe City) (menu wording can differ slightly between app versions). The service is also available on the web at epay.punjab.gov.pk.
  3. Enter your vehicle registration number.
  4. Find your challan in the results.
  5. Tap Pay — the app generates the PSID for the challan automatically.

This method is convenient because it takes you straight from generation to the payment screen in one flow.

What If the PSID Is Not Showing on My Challan?

There are two common situations:

  • You received a physical challan by post. A challan delivered to your home address by mail already has the PSID printed on it — look for the 17-digit code on the document. No generation needed; just use that code to pay.
  • The portal shows the challan but no PSID option. First, make sure you have actually selected the challan and clicked the generate button (Method 1, step 6) — the PSID does not appear until you generate it. If the button does nothing, try a different browser or incognito window, or switch to the ePay Punjab app method. If it still fails after 48–72 hours, call 15 or 042-99051606 for help.

How to Pay Once You Have the PSID

With your 17-digit PSID in hand, you can pay through any of these channels:

Channel Where to go
JazzCash / Easypaisa Government payments / bill payments section, enter the PSID
Any bank’s mobile or internet banking app Bill payments → government payments (GoPb), enter the PSID
ATM Bill payment menu, enter the PSID
Bank branch (e.g. Bank of Punjab) Pay over the counter with the PSID printout

The payment amount is fixed to the challan — you cannot overpay or underpay against a PSID; the system pulls the exact due amount from the code.

How to Verify Your PSID Payment Went Through

Paying is only half the job — always confirm the payment registered:

  1. Check the status on the PSCA portal. Go to echallan.psca.gop.pk and search by your vehicle number or CNIC — once the payment settles, the challan shows as Paid. (ePay Punjab is where you generate and pay the PSID; the challan status itself lives on the PSCA portal.)
  2. Re-check the PSCA portal. The challan status on echallan.psca.gop.pk typically reflects the payment the same day — but allow 24–72 hours, especially if you paid on a weekend or public holiday, when bank-government settlement runs slower.
  3. Keep your receipt. Save the transaction receipt or screenshot from your wallet/bank app until the portal shows the challan as paid. If there is ever a mismatch, that receipt is your proof.

If the portal still shows the challan as unpaid after 72 hours (on a working-day payment), contact the helplines 15 / 042-99051606 or email etclhr@psca.gop.pk with your PSID and payment receipt.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Generating multiple PSIDs for one challan. This causes mismatches and delays. One challan = one PSID. If you already generated one, reuse that same code.
  2. Paying through random SMS links. Scam SMS messages carry fake payment links (see how to spot a fake e-challan SMS). The real payment always goes through a PSID entered in an official wallet, bank app, ATM or branch — never through a link in a text message.
  3. Losing the PSID before paying. Write it down or screenshot it. If you lose it, you may need to go through the generation process again (carefully — see mistake #1; if a PSID was already generated for that challan, try to recover the same one rather than creating a new one).
  4. Assuming payment is instant on the portal. Same-day reflection is typical but not guaranteed; give it 24–72 hours before worrying.
  5. Using unofficial websites to “generate” a PSID. Only echallan.psca.gop.pk and the ePay Punjab app are the legitimate sources. Third-party sites asking for your CNIC or card details are not safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I generate a PSID for my e challan?
Two ways: (1) on echallan.psca.gop.pk, enter your vehicle number plus CNIC or chassis number, select the challan and click “Generate Challan”/”Generate PSID” to get the 17-digit code; (2) in the ePay Punjab app, go to Punjab Police → E-Challan (Safe City), enter your registration number and tap Pay — the PSID is generated automatically.

What is a PSID in an e challan?
PSID stands for Payment System Identifier (also called Payment Slip ID). It is a 17-digit unique code that identifies your challan payment in the government payment system. Every payment channel — JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank apps, ATMs — needs it to process your payment.

PSID number kahan se milega? (Where do I get the PSID number?)
From the PSCA portal (echallan.psca.gop.pk) after searching your vehicle and generating it, from the ePay Punjab app, or printed on the challan if one was delivered to your home by post.

Can I pay my e challan without a PSID?
No. Without the PSID, no payment route works — wallets, bank apps and ATMs all require the 17-digit code to identify your challan.

What should I do if the PSID is not showing on my challan?
Make sure you clicked the “Generate Challan”/”Generate PSID” button after selecting the challan — the code only appears after generation. If the button fails, try another browser or the ePay Punjab app, and if it still fails after 48–72 hours, call 15 or 042-99051606.

Can I generate more than one PSID for the same challan?
You should not. Generate only one PSID per challan — multiple PSIDs can cause mismatches and payment delays.

How do I verify my PSID payment?
Check the payment status on the PSCA portal (echallan.psca.gop.pk) by vehicle number or CNIC — the status typically updates the same day, but allow 24–72 hours (longer for weekend/holiday payments). Keep your receipt until the portal shows the challan as paid.

How long does it take for the payment to reflect on the portal?
Usually the same day, but allow 24–72 hours. Payments made on weekends or public holidays take longer because bank-government settlement is slower on non-working days.
